The Legacy Nursery combines caring with education by following the Department of Education’s statutory learning framework, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We are proud to have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and have also achieved the Lancashire Quality Award.
At The Legacy Nursery, we pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care and education to children 0-5 years old of ALL abilities.
The aim of The Legacy Nursery is to make everyone feel welcome and included. We believe that each and every child is unique and that they deserve the best early childhood experiences in order to develop to their full potential. We work in partnership with families and the community to provide experiences and opportunities that will enable our children to be happy, secure and independent.
As an inclusive setting we strive for excellence; staff are highly experienced and receive regular training; and sharing the site with our charity, Rainbow House, means that we are able to offer access to a range of additional services such as Conductive Education and Physiotherapy. The charity’s multi-disciplinary team is also available to share their knowledge and expertise in areas such as sensory integration and speech, language and communication. We find there are many benefits for all children within an inclusive setting, these include:
- Children are not segregated. The negative effects of labeling and lack of familiarity are decreased
- Children have opportunities to learn from and share experiences with each other
- All children feel a sense of belonging
- Children of all ages learn to appreciate diversity in others
- When everyone participates, children have opportunities to be creative, resourceful and cooperative.
We believe that learning should be stimulating for young children, so play times are educational as well as fun. The Legacy Nursery is continuously developing new and exciting ways of encouraging and challenging a child’s learning and development in a safe and stimulating environment.
At The Legacy Nursery our aim is to prepare each child to be as confident and independent as possible so that they can transition into school and become integrated into their community. Above all we offer a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
